HOW I CHANGED FROM ACIDIC pH TO MORE ALKALINE… DURING LOCKDOWN

20 years ago, I remember my daughter coming home from secondary school and sharing the new knowledge she learned that day – cancer can’t survive in an alkaline environment.

That touched a nerve – my Mum, maternal aunt and paternal great aunt had died from breast cancer when they were in their 40s and 50s.   By then I was in my 40s, had gone through many of the stresses that are at the top of the list – bereavements, redundancy, moving house, as well as having 2 teenagers!  I was living with the worry and fear that I might get breast cancer one day….

Worrying wasn’t doing me any good so I embarked on a journey of self discovery. I learned to discreate my beliefs and to create what I prefer.  It was empowering and I felt strong.

However one belief still persisted and my body started aging…   My doctor said that the persistent pain in my hip had no obvious cause and I would have to live with it for the rest of my life.  I was angry – surely people wouldn’t accept that. I certainly didn’t. It didn’t seem right and it woke up a passion within that changed my life.

That passion led me to discover many healing systems including Reiki, Pranic Healing and BodyTalk. I had found Energy Medicine.

The pain I had put up with for years disappeared – it turns out that I had stored lots of trauma in my connective tissue in my lower back and hip. (When the body/mind is in crisis, most of us haven’t been taught how to deal with these situations and the body will store the emotions/trauma in the tissue, often manifesting as back/shoulder pain, nausea or headaches).

I became a BodyTalk practitioner in 2012 and was over the moon – I had found my calling. More courses beckoned and I learned about how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our bodies, minds and lives – and more importantly, how to release those stuck emotions/entanglements for my clients.

Life was good. Healthy eating, exercise and clean living was the way forward…

Then in 2015 I had a breast cancer diagnosis.  All my friends were surprised as “I was the healthiest person they knew”

Everything alternative was considered – and I mean everything.

Anything… rather than having to go down the conventional route of chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy.

After 3 months, nothing I did had stopped the tumour growth. I agreed to have life saving treatment at The Royal Marsden. The doctors and nurses were fantastic. But I was shocked that we were offered cakes and biscuits while having chemotherapy. Surely everyone knows that all that sugar is bad for you!

I ate healthy food – organic whenever possible, no alcohol, no cakes (sugar!). Litres of filtered energised water were consumed daily. I stopped using perfume or dying my hair to try to reduce the amount of endocrine disruptors. I was getting boring!

Silence and stillness, meditation and spirituality became my strength.  Yin yoga was utterly calming and gave me flexibility.

Attending further courses and studying Parama, the highest level of BodyTalk was also very important – all the new knowledge was helping my clients and family.

Then in March 2020, Lockdown started.

It has been a strange, surreal time.

A time for introspection. And it gave me the opportunity to look at why my body was still acidic. In 2015 my pH was 5.0 – that looks orange on the chart and indicated that I was very acidic – the danger zone.  Bicarbonate of Soda slightly improved my pH, but that was at the expense of a sluggish digestion system and could not be sustained.

By early 2020, with all my healthy living choices, my pH level had improved to 6.25 but was disappointingly short of the pH 7.0 – 7.5 range that I needed to be more healthy.

In lockdown, I tried the Wim Hof breathing method and embarked on the 30 day breathing challenge. I had read about the benefits of breathing which included increased alkalinity….

I started off with one round and built it up slowly. After just a week my energy levels improved and my sleep was deeper. If I missed a day, the day didn’t go so well. After 30 days, my pH was 7.25 !!!

I shall continue to maintain an alkalising lifestyle and do my daily breathing, Wim Hof style.

For me, the Wim Hof method (which includes cold showers and push ups) has improved my life dramatically.  I am very grateful to Wim and am glad to have found the missing link!
